Google api key no more needed

The google map API key is no longer needed in Geocode Factory. Since release 2.8, we have modified our application to be used without the need of a key. This should be sufficient for most users, but if you need more than 15000 transactions per day, then you should register for a commercial API key. Geocode Factory supports the use of both an individual or a commercial key.

The Google Places API web service requires the use of an API console key. The Geocode Factory Google Maps V3 does not require a key, but there are benefits to using one. Note that the key used with the V3 API is not the same as the key used for V2 or Maps API for Flash applications. Benefits of using a key with your V3 application include usage reports in the APIs console; the ability to purchase additional quota when required; and a way for Google to contact you about your application. To generate a key:

  • Visit the APIs Console at https://code.google.com/apis/console and log in with your Google Account.
  • Click the Services link from the left-hand menu, then activate the Google Maps API v3 service.
  • Once the service has been activated, your API key is available from the API Access page, in the Simple API Access section. Maps API applications use the Key for browser apps.
  • You can enter this key in the Geocode Factory component's parameters, and enter the API key.
